| Hatching Eggs | | | | Day 1 - The eggs are in the incubators. | Spring 2005 Project -
We have left this project on the website for students to revisit even
though the project has ended. Please note that the live web cam
link at the bottom will not be working any longer. Thank you and
we look forward to doing another wonderful project like this soon.
Chick eggs have arrived! We are so excited to have the chick eggs in
the Children's House classrooms. Students will be observing the eggs
every day and waiting to see if we will have chicks!
Be sure to check back to our site often to watch the progress and see what we are learning!
Day One Student
learned more about hatching eggs when their teachers read books to them
about chick eggs. Our chick eggs were marked with an X on one side and
an O on the other. This will help us when we need to flip the eggs -
something that has to be done everyday! Then, the eggs were put in the
incubator. We will all be watching these eggs to see if they will hatch.
Day Three The
eggs are being turned every day. Students are able to watch and
sometimes help turn the eggs, check to be sure they are pointed down,
and give the incubator more water. Each time the eggs are turned, we
record the date, time, and who turned the eggs.
Day Four to Day Twelve Each
class has been turning the eggs and recording their work. Students are
also reading books and doing projects to help them learn about how the
chick is developing in the egg. We are hoping all our hard work will
lead to a lot of hatched eggs!
Day Thirteen We have
added a live egg cam! If you look at the link below, you will be able
to actually see the eggs that we have in our classrooms. There is a
small camera sitting right by the incubator that takes pictures and
puts it on the web for us to see. The camera sends the pictures to our
computer so that we will have a time-lapse movie to watch when our
project is done!
Day Fourteen Students today are able
to turn off the lights, use a flashlight, and see the chick in the
eggs! We are excited to see the chicks!
